CRANE HIRE — QUICKSILVALIFT

SPECIALIST HEAVY HAULAGE TRANSPORT

Oversized and abnormal load transport requiring specialist planning, permits and escort vehicles. Managed end-to-end by our logistics team.

WHAT IS SPECIALIST HEAVY HAULAGE TRANSPORT?

Specialised heavy haulage transport covers the movement of oversized, abnormal and exceptionally heavy loads that exceed standard road transport dimensions or weight limits. These loads require specialist planning, route surveys, abnormal load permits from relevant authorities, and escort vehicles for safe transport on public roads.

QuickSILVALIFT manages the entire process from route planning through permit acquisition to final delivery, ensuring your oversized equipment or structures arrive safely and on schedule.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Yes. QuickSILVA PlanTranz Hire offers an operator with both wet hire (machine plus fuel) and dry hire (machine only). All our operators are fully certified and experienced across residential, commercial and infrastructure sites.

On a wet hire the hire will include fuel. Dry hire means you supply your own fuel on a hire. Wet hire is the most popular option for contractors who want a turnkey solution.

We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance for our plant hire equipment. For larger excavators or peak periods, a week’s notice ensures availability. Emergency and shutdown work is available 24/7 — call us directly.

In South Africa, a load is classified as abnormal if it exceeds standard road transport limits for width (2.5m), height (4.3m), length (22m for a truck and trailer combination) or weight (56 tonnes gross). Any load exceeding these limits requires an abnormal load permit and may require escort vehicles and police escorts depending on the route and dimensions.

Permit processing times vary depending on the issuing authority and the route. Standard permits typically take 5–10 working days. Complex routes crossing multiple jurisdictions or requiring bridge assessments may take longer. QuickSILVALIFT manages the entire permit process on your behalf — contact us as early as possible to ensure your transport is not delayed.

Yes. While QuickSILVALIFT is based in the Western Cape, our specialised heavy haulage transport service operates nationwide across South Africa. We have experience transporting oversized loads between all major provinces and to remote mining and infrastructure project sites.
