PLANT HIRE — QUICKSILVA PLANTRANZ HIRE

GRADER HIRE

Precision grading for road construction, site preparation and gravel road maintenance. 120 and 140 graders across the Western Cape and Northern Cape.

WHAT IS A MOTOR GRADER?

A motor grader features a long adjustable blade mounted between the front and rear axles, designed to create flat, precise surfaces. Graders are essential for road building, site preparation and sub-grade work — particularly for the gravel roads common throughout the Western Cape and Northern Cape.

QuickSILVA PlanTranz Hire operates 120 and 140 graders. The 120 is suited for lighter grading work and farm roads, while the 140 handles heavier road construction and civil infrastructure projects.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Yes. QuickSILVA PlanTranz Hire offers both wet hire (machine plus qualified operator) and dry hire (machine only). All our operators are fully certified and experienced across residential, commercial and infrastructure sites.

Dry hire means you receive the machine only and supply your own operator. Wet hire includes a qualified QuickSILVA operator with the machine. Wet hire is the most popular option for contractors who want a turnkey solution.

We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance for our plant hire equipment. For larger excavators or peak periods, a week’s notice ensures availability. Emergency and shutdown work is available 24/7 — call us directly.

Grading speed depends on road length, condition and the level of precision required. A well-maintained gravel road can typically be graded at 2–4 kilometres per hour. Roads in poor condition or requiring significant reshaping will take longer. Contact our team with your road details for an accurate estimate.

For standard farm road maintenance, a 120 grader is typically sufficient. For longer roads, heavier reshaping or roads serving mining or industrial operations, a 140 provides more power and blade width. Our team can recommend the right machine based on your road specifications.

Yes. Modern graders are designed to operate on gradients and uneven terrain. The mountainous terrain of the Boland, Overberg and Cape Winelands is well within the capability of our 120 and 140 graders. Operator experience on local terrain is a key advantage of hiring through QuickSILVA PlanTranz Hire.
